Castor seed prices fell by 0.87 percent on Friday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of fresh supply of the commodity in the major mandies as well as strong production estimates.

At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for January 2015 contract was trading at Rs. 4,772 per quintal tonnes, down by 0.87 per cent, after opening at Rs. 4,810 against the previous closing price of Rs. 4,814. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 4,763 till the trading.

Amid profit-booking by speculators, mentha oil prices fell 0.45 percent to Rs 761.90 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January eased by Rs 3.50, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 761.90 per kg, with a business volume of 370 lots. Similarly, mentha oil prices for the February delivery eased by Rs 3.50, or 0.45 percent, to Rs 772.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 80 lots. The fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators and weak trend at spot market owing to subdued demand, market men said.
