MCX Bullions Tips - Gold prices ended lower in the domestic market on Thursday in the midst of positive developments in the Greek Debt crisis and mixed US economic data. Gold is typically viewed as a safe-haven for investors in period of severe economic doubt. After interim resolutions in both longstanding disputes advance of  this week, investors could be wary of even further declines in gold. MCX bullions Tips - Gold futures ended lower in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors favoured equities over safe haven assets after Greece and its creditors reached a deal on Monday. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Franceois Hollande and Greek Prime minister Alexis Tsipras agreed a cash-for-reforms deal worth up to 86 billion euros over the next three years. The deal, unanimously backed by other eurozone leaders, needs an extensive over - all of the country’s tax and pension regime but has to be signed off by the Greek parliament as well as other countries. However, losses were limited after data showed that retail sales in the US fell unforeseen in June, while core sales also drop approximate, water desire over the strength of the economy and dimming prospects for higher interest rates. Investors await the start of Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen's two-day testimony before Congress on Wednesday for further indications on the timing of a highly-anticipated interest rate hike. At the MCX, Gold futures for August 2015 contract ended at Rs 25,927 per 10 gram, down by 0.37 per cent after starting at Rs 26,025, opposed the previous closing price of Rs 26,024. GOLD/SILVER 
Snapping its three-day losing streak, gold prices recovered by Rs 50 to Rs 26,800 per 10 grams at the bullion market today on increased buying by jewellers at prevailing levels amid a firm global trend.
Silver also edged up by Rs 100 to Rs 36,750 per kg on better offtake by industrial units and coin makers. Traders said emergence of buying by jewellers and retailers at existing levels and a better trend in the global markets mainly led to the recovery in gold prices.
Gold in London, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, was up by 0.85 percent to USD 1,203.70 an ounce in early trade today. In the national capital, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 26,800 and Rs 26,650 per 10 grams, respectively. It had lost Rs 500 in last three days. Sovereign, however, remained steady at Rs 23,700 per piece of eight grams in limited deals.
Silver ready also traded higher by Rs 100 to Rs 36,750 per kg but weekly-based delivery shed Rs-50 at Rs 36,400 per kg on lack of support from speculators. On the other hand, silver coins continued to be asked at last level of Rs 55,000 for buying and Rs 56,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Snapping its four-day rising streak, gold prices fell by Rs 20 at Rs 27,230 per 10 grams at the bullion market today due to slackened demand from jewellers and retailers at prevailing levels amid a weak trend overseas. Silver also met with resistance and dropped by Rs 500 at Rs 38,000 per kg. Traders said apart from easing demand from jewellers and retailers at existing levels, a weak global trend mainly led to the decline in prices of the precious metals. Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, traded a shade lower at USD 1,213.21 an ounce from yesterday's USD 1,214.84 and silver declined 0.3 percent to USD 16.93 an ounce. In the national capital, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 percent purity declined by Rs 20 each at Rs 27,230 and Rs 27,080 per 10 grams, respectively. The precious metal had gained Rs 675 in previous four sessions. The sovereign, however, remained steady at Rs 23,700 per piece of eight grams in limited deals. On the other hand, silver ready dropped by Rs 500 at Rs 38,000 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 290 at Rs 37,890 per kg. Silver coins, however, continued to be traded at last level of Rs 57,000 for buying and Rs 58,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Gold futures rose by 1.18 percent on Monday at the domestic market with investors focused on last week's US jobs data and thin trade with many markets shut for holidays. Further, a weaker dollar raised the appeal of the bullion as an alternative asset. Weaker dollar makes the precious metal cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus increasing demand. In the week ahead, markets outside the US will remain closed on Monday. The US is to release what will be closely watched data on service sector activity on Monday and the Federal Reserve is to publish the minutes of its March meeting on Wednesday. At the MCX Gold futures for June 2015 contract was trading at Rs 26,597 per 10 gram, up by 1.18 percent after opening at Rs 26,645, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,597. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 26,975 till the trading. 

Silver prices soared by Rs 697 to Rs 38,046 per kg in futures trade today after participants built up positions taking positive cues from overseas markets. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver prices for delivery in May spurted by Rs 697, or 1.87 per cent, to Rs 38,046 per kg in business turnover of 941 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month July contracts traded Rs 695, or 1.84 percent, higher at Rs 38,473 per kg in 21 lots. Analysts said the rise in silver prices at futures trade was mostly in line with a firming trend in the global market as dollar weakened after data showing the weakest pace of US hiring in more than a year clouded the outlook for interest-rate increases. Globally, silver gained 0.2 percent to USD 17.10 an ounce in Singapore.

Gold futures were trading with modest gains in the domestic market on Wednesday as investors continue to monitor events in the Middle East as Saudi Arabia prepares for a ground incursion in Yemen to dislodge Iran backed Shiite rebels, boosting the safe haven demand for the bullion.Traders eyed the key US private payrolls data which may show acceleration in hiring in the world’s biggest economy, adding the heat on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in the near-term, curbing the demand for the bullion as a store of value, trimming gains in Gold futures. At the MCX Gold futures for April 2015 contract is trading at Rs 26,253 per 10 gram, up by 0.19 percent after opening at Rs 26,295, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,204. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 26,300. 

Silver futures climbed in the domestic market on Wednesday as heightened tensions in the Middle East with Saudi Arabia and allies preparing for a ground invasion in Yemen to dislodge Iran-backed Shia militias boosted the safe haven demand for silver. However, expectation of a US interest rate hike in June following comments by a top US Federal Reserve official dimmed the appeal of the bullion as a store of value, curbing gains in the precious metal. At the MCX, Silver futures for May 2015 contract is trading at Rs 37,270 per 1 kg, up by 0.27 percent after opening at Rs 37,344, against the previous closing price of Rs 37,169. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 37,456 till the closing.

Gold prices drifted further at the domestic bullion market today due to lacklustre buying by jewellery stockists and retail investors amidst lower global cues. 
Silver rates continued the fall for the 5th straight session because of mute demand from jewellery and coin makers. Standard gold (99.5 purity) moved down by Rs 25 to finish at Rs 26,220 per 10 grams from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 26,245. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also eased by a similar margin to close at Rs 26,370 per 10 grams from Rs 26,395. Silver (.999 fineness) declined by Rs 165 to end at Rs 37,660 per kg as compared to Rs 37,825 yesterday.
At overseas markets, London gold eased in early trade after ending March down more than 2 percent, as the dollar edged higher and as expectations that US interest rates will rise this year- weighed on the metal. Spot gold was down by $1,181.70 an ounce and spot silver fell to $16.59 an ounce in early European trade.

Gold futures fell in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators exited positions in the precious metal tracking a bearish trend in the overseas market as a stronger dollar curbed the demand for the bullion as an alternative asset. Stronger greenback makes gold more expensive for those holding other currencies, thus dimming demand. Investors are bracing for a maiden US interest rate hike since 2006 as Fed Chair Janet Yellen last week saw monetary tightening beginning later this year, dimming the appeal of gold as a store of value. At the MCX  Gold futures for April 2015 contract is trading at Rs 26,186 per 10 gram, down by 0.32 percent after opening at Rs 26,208, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,270. It touched the intra- day low of Rs 26,160.

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators exited positions in the precious metal tracking a weak trend in the overseas market as easing geopolitical concerns regarding Yemen curbed the demand for the bullion as an alternative asset. However, a weaker dollar boosted the demand for gold as an alternative asset, supporting the yellow metal. Weaker greenback makes gold cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus bolstering demand. Gold may extend a decline today as caution persists ahead of US consumer spending data. At the MCX Gold futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs 26,569 per 10 gram, down by 0.87 percent after opening at Rs 26,675, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,801. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 26,387 till the closing. 

Silver futures tumbled in the domestic market on Monday as investors and speculators exited positions in the precious metal after Fed Chair Janet Yellen said that she expects the FOMC to begin monetary tightening this year, with subsequent rate lift-offs to be gradual rather than following a predictable path, dimming the appeal of the bullion as a store of value. Further, a stronger dollar dampened the demand for the bullion as an alternative asset. Stronger dollar curbed the demand for the precious metal as an alternative asset. At the MCX Silver futures for May 2015 contract is trading at Rs 37,963 per 1 kg, down by 1.13 per cent after opening at Rs 38,200, against the previous closing price of Rs 38,395. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 37,886 till the closing.

Gold futures rose in the domestic and overseas market on Thursday as investors continued to ponder Federal Reserve tea leaves on the prospects of a rate hike by June. Prices rose after somewhat dovish comments from Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen regarding a potential interest rate hike helped the precious metal rebound from an extended slump. Further, weaker dollar boosted the demand for gold as an alternative asset, trimming losses in the bullion. Weaker greenback makes gold cheaper for those holding other currencies, thus boosting demand. Gold may trade on a higher note today after the US Fed policy meet. At the MCX Gold futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs 25,962 per 10 gram, up by 1.28 percent after opening at Rs 25,740, against the previous closing price of Rs 25,637. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 25,997 till the closing.

Base Metals & EnergyCopper prices fell by 0.39 per cent on Friday at the domestic markets after manufacturing activity in the Philadelphia-region expanded at the slowest pace in 13 months in March, fuelling concerns over the US economic outlook which reduced the demand outlook for the metal. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia said that its manufacturing index deteriorated to a reading of 5.0 this month from February’s reading of 5.2. At the MCX copper futures for April 2015 contract were trading at Rs.369.25 per 1 kg, down by 0.39 per cent, after opening at Rs. 370 against the previous closing price of Rs. 370.70. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 367.80 till the trading. 

Crude oil prices rose by 0.38 per cent on Friday at the domestic markets as the dollar weakened, but gains were limited by supply concerns after Kuwait said OPEC had no choice but to maintain output levels. A weaker dollar typically supports prices for commodities denominated in the greenback, making them cheaper for holders of other currencies. Gains were also limited after Iraq's southern oil exports have risen in March as poor weather that delayed cargoes in February cleared, putting OPEC's second-largest producer back within sight of record shipments. At the MCX, crude oil futures for February 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 2,873 per barrel, up by 0.38 per cent, after opening at Rs. 2,885 against the previous closing price of Rs. 2,862. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 2,887 till the trading.

Agro Outlook
Jeera prices closed higher by 0.55 per cent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the investors increased their holdings in the commodity in the midst limited arrivals from growing regions. At the NCDEX, jeera futures for March 2015 contract closed at Rs. 14,590 per quintal, up by 0.55 per cent, after opening at Rs. 14,680 against the previous closing price of Rs. 14,510. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 14,680. Sentiment improved further as a result of reduced domestic supplies in the physical markets and some export enquiries. Global output of Jeera is around 2.2 lakh MT per year, of which India produces about 1.5 lakh MT per year.

Gold prices rose by Rs 131 to Rs 25,950 per 10 grams in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions after the precious metal recovered in the global markets. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mcx gold for delivery in June was up by Rs 131, or 0.51 percent, to Rs 25,950 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 31 lots. The metal for delivery in April moved up by Rs 114, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 25,769 per 10 grams in a turnover of 774 lots. Analysts said recovery in the precious metal in global markets mainly helped gold to trade higher at futures trade here. Globally, gold rose as much as 0.7 per cent to USD 1,161.855 an ounce in Singapore. After its three session slide, gold prices recovered slightly at the bullion market here on modest offtake from stockist and investors as well as low level jewellery buying interest on the back of improved international markets.
Silver also gained following mild speculative buying.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) rose by Rs 95 to end at Rs 25,900 per 10 grams from Thursday's closing level of Rs 25,805. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also went up by a similar margin to conclude at Rs 26,050 per 10 grams from Rs 25,955. Silver (.999 fineness) moved up by Rs 85 per kg to close at Rs 36,205 as compared to Rs 36,120 yesterday. Globally, in Europe gold firmed up after nine straight sessions of losses, as the dollar nursed losses following its biggest one-day fall in a month late yesterday. In London, spot gold edged up 0.3 per cent to $1,156.20 an ounce in early trade. while spot silver were down 0.3 per cent at -$15.52 an ounce.

At the MCX, Gold futures for February 2015 contract was trading at Rs 25,899 per 10 gram, down by 0.48 per cent after opening at Rs 25,962, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,024. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 25,880 till the trading.

Base Metals & Energy :

Crude oil prices fell by 0.25 per cent on Tuesday at the domestic markets as investors looked ahead to US stockpiles data. Investors are looking ahead to US industry figures from the American Petroleum Institute for crude and refined product stockpiles last week to be announced later Tuesday. On Wednesday, the US Department of Energy will release its own, more closely watched, figures on the same. At the MCX, crude oil futures for March 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 3,155 per barrel, down by 0.25 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,166 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,163. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,154 till the trading.

Copper prices fell by 0.87 per cent on Tuesday at the domestic markets as investors digested the recent key economic data from China and the U.S. to gauge the strength of demand for the metal. Copper is sensitive to the economic growth outlook because of its widespread uses across industries. China and the U.S. are the two biggest consumers of the industrial metal. At the mcx copper futures for April 2015 contract were trading at Rs.370.80 per 1 kg, down by 0.87 per cent, after opening at Rs. 372.80 against the previous closing price of Rs. 374.05. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 370.65 till the trading.

Agro Outlook :
Mentha Oil prices fell by 0.42 percent on Thursday at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) as a result of the increased arrivals of the commodity in the physical market from the major producing belts in Uttar Pradesh. At MCX, Mentha oil futures for March 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs. 803.30 per kg, down by 0.42 per cent after opening at Rs. 808.80 against the previous closing price of Rs. 806.40. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 798.10 till the trading.
 
Castor Seed prices fell by 0.14 percent on Thursday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of fresh supply of the commodity in the major mandies as well as strong production estimates. At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for March 2015 contract was trading at Rs. 3,658 per quintal tonnes, down by 0.14 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,660 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,663. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,649 till the trading.

Gold futures for April 2015 contract, at MCX gold were trading at Rs. 26,460 per 10 grams, up by 0.12 per cent after opening at Rs. 26,411 against the previous closing price of Rs. 26,427. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 26,475 till the trading. 

Base Metals & Energy :

Natural Gas futures closed higher in the domestic market on Tuesday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the energy commodity as prices rebounded from the lowest level in three weeks in the overseas market as recent sharp losses offered good bargain buying opportunity in the fuel at existing levels. Near-term weather forecasts called for warmer weather in the US in the second week of March, curbing heating demand for the fuel. At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for March 2015 contract closed at Rs 169.60 per 1 kg, up by 0.36 per cent after opening at Rs 168.80, against the previous closing price of Rs 169. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 170.20 till the closing.

Zinc prices rose by 0.20 percent on Wednesday at the domestic markets after retail sales in the euro zone rose much more than expected in January, easing concerns over the region’s economic outlook which raised the demand outlook for the metal. Eurostat said retail sales increased by a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percent in January, blowing past forecasts for a gain of 0.1 percent. Zinc futures for February 2015 contract, at MCX, were trading at Rs 125.85 per kg, up by 0.20 percent after opening at Rs. 125.75 against the previous closing price of Rs. 125.60. It touched the intra-day high of Rs. 126.20 till the trading.

Agro Outlook

Coriander prices fell by 2.12 per cent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as the adequate stocks availability in the physical market put pressure on coriander prices. At the NCDEX, coriander futures for April 2015 contract were trading at Rs. 6,293 per quintal, down by 2.12 per cent, after opening at Rs. 6,679 against the previous closing price of Rs. 6,429. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 6,262 till the trading.

Castor Seed prices fell by 0.22 percent on Tuesday at the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) as a result of fresh supply of the commodity in the major mandies as well as strong production estimates. At the NCDEX, castor seed futures for March 2015 contract was trading at Rs. 3,644 per quintal tonnes, down by 0.22 per cent, after opening at Rs. 3,651 against the previous closing price of Rs. 3,652. It touched the intra-day low of Rs. 3,630 till the trading .

At the MCX Gold futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs 26,477 per 10 gram, up by 0.76 per cent after opening at Rs 26,200, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,227. Lead prices rose by 0.56 percent on Monday at the domestic markets due to the decline in the lead stockpiles at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on account of the strong demand for the commodity. LME lead stocks fell by 50 metric tonnes to 214700 metric tonnes as on March 2, 2015. At the MCX, Lead futures, for the March 2015 contract, is trading at Rs 108.30 per kg, up by 0.56 percent, after opening at Rs 108.20, against a previous close of Rs 107.70. It touched an intra-day high of Rs 108.85 till the trading.
Zinc futures ended higher in the domestic market on Saturday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the industrial metal as strong physical demand for zinc in the domestic spot market lifted sentiment.Further, contracts to buy US existing homes rose to the highest level since August 2013 in January 2015, signaling a pickup in the housing market of the world’s biggest economy, lifting the demand outlook for industrial metals.The index of US pending home sales climbed 1.7 percent in January 2015 following a 1.5 per cent drop in the prior month. At the MCX, Zinc futures for March 2015 contract closed at Rs 127.7 per 1 kg, up by 0.31 percent after opening at Rs 127.4, against the previous closing price of Rs 127.30. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 128 till the closing.

Gold futures may rise today as speculation of the US Fed delaying a rate hike boosts demand outlook. At the MCX Gold futures for April 2015 contract closed at Rs 26,227 per 10 gram, up by 0.04 percent after opening at Rs 26,240, against the previous closing price of Rs 26,216. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 26,335 till the closing.

Lead prices fell by 0.18 per cent to Rs 109.15 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits. Moreover, a weak trend in base metals overseas weighed on lead prices at futures trade. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in March fell by 20 paise, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 109.15 per kg in a business turnover of 148 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in current month traded lower by 15 paise, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 107.65 per kg in 126 lots. Copper futures rose in the domestic market on Friday as investors and speculators booked fresh positions in the industrial metal after contracts to buy US existing homes rose to the highest level since 2013 in January 2015, signaling a pickup in the housing market of the world’s biggest economy, lifting the demand outlook for industrial metals. The index of US pending home sales climbed 1.7 percent in January 2015 following a 1.5 per cent drop in the prior month. Copper may rise today amid speculation that China may announce further stimulus measures in the near-term, bolstering demand outlook. At the MCX Copper futures for February 2015 contract closed at Rs 370 per 1 kg, up by 0.31 per cent after opening at Rs 367, against the previous closing price of Rs 368.85. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 370.95 till the closing .

Base Metals
Natural Gas futures plunged in the domestic market on Thursday as investors and speculators exited positions in the energy commodity tracking a weak trend in the overseas market as US gas supplies fell less than expected last week signaling weak demand for the heating fuel despite frigid weather. US gas stockpiles fell 219 billion cubic feet to 1.938 trillion cubic feet in the week ended February 20, compared to analysts’ estimates for a drop of 241 billion cubic feet.
At the MCX, Natural Gas futures for March 2015 contract closed at Rs 169.10 per 1 kg, down by 4.73 per cent after opening at Rs 179.30, against the previous closing price of Rs 177.50. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 168.10 till the closing.

Copper futures rose in the domestic market on Friday as a rebound in US durable goods orders last month signaled a pickup in the world’s biggest economy, lifting the demand outlook for the base metal.Bookings for US goods meant to last at least three years rose for the first time in three months, up 2.8 per cent in January from December when they fell a revised 3.7 per cent. Further, speculation that policymakers in China may boost stimulus to stem a slowdown in the world’s biggest copper consumer lifted demand outlook for copper.Chinese Premier Li Keqiang urged the need for a more active fiscal policy, while a central bank publication called for additional monetary easing to boost demand and economic growth.
At the MCX Copper futures for February 2015 contract closed at Rs 369.45 per 1 kg, up by 0.16 per cent after opening at Rs 367, against the previous closing price of Rs 368.85. It touched the intra-day high of Rs 369.95 till the closing.
